QUILT TOP

*Press seams well. Be sure the top lies flat. Ripples and "puffy" places will not necessarily quilt flat.

*The top should be free of embellishments such as buttons and beads.

*Clip all loose threads and be sure the seams have been pressed.

*If the quilt has a pieced border, a row of stay stitching should be applied 1/4 inch or less from the edge of the quilt to keep the seams from pulling apart and will also prevent stretching.

*If your quilt has a definite "head" and you think I might not recognize it, please apply a piece of masking tape or a safety pin to identify it.

BATTING

*Batting should be 3-4" larger on all sides than the quilt top.

* You may provide your own batting or purchase from us. If providing your own, please check with us to be sure it is an acceptable brand.

BACKING

*Please trim off selvage edges. If your backing will be seamed, use a 3/8 inch seam allowance and press these seams open. This reduces bulk and also keeps from having a ridge show in your quilt when quilted. Sides should be straight and the backing squared.

*100% cotton fabric provides the best results. If flannel is used for the back, wash it first.
